How do i file form 5695 for the solar panel tax credit?

To claim the credit:

1. Open or continue your return
2. Select Deductions and Credits  and click Review /Edit
3. Click Edit next to Home Energy Credits
4. On the screen Energy Efficient Home Improvements, answer Yes and continue
5. Answer questions related to your home.
6. On the screen Did you have any of these residential clean energy costs in 2023? Answer Yes and continue
7. Enter the amount 

The tax credit is 30 percent of the costs for assembly, preparation, and installation as well as piping and wiring.

The Residential Clean Energy Credit is non-refundable meaning that it can offset your income tax liability dollar-for-dollar, but any excess credit won't be refunded.
