Question

How do I get TurboTax to apply all my income from my W-2 to my Self-Employment income? I'm a clergy member. The process seems different this year.

It's prompting me to enter different income other than what's reported on the W-2. I typically don't have a problem with this.

    It depends. When you enter your W-2, be sure to watch for the screen 'Let's check for uncommon situations' and select 'Religious employment'. Once you make this selection, TurboTax knows how to treat your W-2 income on the tax return.

     

    Also, if you have housing allowance on your W-2 entry, do not enter it again in the self employment income.
