Question

How do I report rolled over 529 funds? I rolled over funds from another state's 529 college savings account into a Wisconsin 529 this year. Do I get credit for principal?

No money was disbursed, rolled over directly and continuing to grow for many years to come. I can see on the state return where I enter current year contributions, but the only rollover options are for me rolling funds to a different state to pay eligible expenses. How do I explain the contribution from the rollover into Wisconsin?

For the rollover itself, you don't need to report anything if it was a "trustee to trustee" transfer, which was likely the case.

On your Wisconsin return, you are allowed a subtraction for the rolled-over amounts when rolling over from another state's plan.  See more HERE.

Enter the rolled-over amount as a contribution in the Wisconsin interview.
