Question

How to handle a double-taxed situation when transferring states but still working with the same company?

I was working in Oregon at my company for 4 months before transferring to Washington and transferring stores, but still working for the same company. I then noticed on my paystubs that for 4 paychecks (bi-weekly) I was getting taxed for both states (Federal for both states and State tax for Oregon). How do I get that money that I wasn't supposed to be taxed for, back, when I wasnt living in Oregon and working in Washington?

It sounds like you lived and worked in Oregon for 4 months out of the year and lived and worked in Washington for 8 months out of the year.  If this is correct, you would need to file an Oregon part-year resident return. Washington does not have any income tax.

You will have Oregon source income from the earnings you made while living in Oregon. Likewise, you have Washington source income from the earnings you made while living in Washington.

Any excess taxes withheld will be refunded to you on your Oregon return.
