I accidently claimed exempt on my state taxes.

For the last 5 months I have not been paying any state tax. I'm not sure how I include this information when filing this year.

    You don’t have to do anything extra to have this information included when filing this year. Your state income tax information will be included on your W-2 in lines 15-20.

     

    If you have not been paying any state tax—and are living and/or working in a state with an income tax—then you will probably owe money to state when you file. Give your employer a state withholding form so they can begin taking state tax out again.
