I am 77 single no Dependents. get VA incl. med. and dental from VA . Retired get SS and VA total 50K. do I need to file?

    It depends if your gross income falls under the filing threshold. Please see Do I need to file a federal return this year? for the filing thresholds.

    Your VA benefits are not taxable income. Your Social Security Income won't be taxable if half of your Social Security Income is less than $25,000. If that is the case then you will be under the filing threshold and won't need to file.
