Question

I am a North Carolina resident. I am a beneficiary of a NJ estate. I entered the K-1 in the federal 1040 income section. How do I enter the NJK-1?

The only amount on the NJK-1 is income of $524.
Do I need to file a New Jersey return?

No.  You do not need to file a NJ return for the K-1 of $524.  Your income is below the threshold.

You must file a nonresident return if you received income from a New Jersey source while you were a nonresident and your income for the entire year (not just your period of non-residency) was more than the filing threshold for your filing status (see page 2). Only report income you earned while a nonresident of New Jersey.  Use this link for additional information :NJ Non-Resident Filing Requirement
