I am a Washington State resident and stationed in California. Do I need to do?

If you are active duty, you will not need to file a California return unless:

  1. California income tax was mistakenly withheld from your active-duty income
  2. You had another "non-active-duty" job in California

If neither situation exists, you do not have a state return to file because Washington has no state tax.
