I am in the army and I live in Washington but I'm a Kansas resident. How does that work for my state taxes?

If Kansas is your HOR (Home of Record), you file state taxes only in Kansas.

In the personal info section of TurboTax, enter Kansas as your state of residence, and indicate that you had no income from other states (unless you had non-military income from another state).

What if I am a Kansas resident in the military?

If your military home of record is Kansas, you are required to file a Kansas income tax return, even if you were not stationed in Kansas last year.

 From <https://www.ksrevenue.org/faqs-taxii.html#military>

Washington has no tax so no return to file for WA.
