Question

I am now starting a new business. I was the team photographer for the NBA Golden State Warriors from 1965-1971 and will be selling my photos through Heritage Auctions.

Can I enter start up expenses now? I'm starting from scratch so I will need to get my photos authenticated and graded. And will need to find a printing service for selling limited editions. What can I deduct now?

    No.  You cannot enter start up expenses until you actually start up the business and are operating.  You cannot take any deductions until then.  When you do start up, then you will be able to enter your expenses as start up costs.
