Question

I am trying to file my state taxes for a partial filing in New York. It won’t change the amount to a partial amount it keeps using the whole amount even when I change it?

I change the percentage to half because I only worked on New York for half a year but it keeps trying to use the entire amount I made this year as if I worked in New York the entire time.

    New York calculates the state tax as if you were a full year resident and then applies the percentage of New York income to determine the amount due.  You can see the income percentage used on Line 45 of the IT-203.
