Question

I am working on part-year resident NY 2020 tax return. I moved from White Plains, NY on Jan 28, 2020 to Michigan. What are my Yonkers and New York City Residency periods?

Since you did not live in NYC or Yonkers, you would select nonresident for each of those questions. 

 

You will need to revisit the NY state return and go back through the residency questions.  You will arrive at a page titled " Your City Residency Information."   

 

If the page does not indicate "Nonresident" for each, you will need to "Edit" and answer the questions as "Nonresident."  

 

The residency period questions will not generate if answered as such.
