I did not work live or earn money in CA ever. Why do I need to file State tax this year?

If you didn't live, work, or have any California income, you shouldn't have to file a CA tax return.  Do you have any Schedule K-1s that may have California income?

Review your entries to help ensure that TurboTax  creates the correct state tax returns. 

1. Launch Turbo Tax and select My Info
2. A Personal profile summary screen will pop up
3. Select Revisit by your address
4. Scroll through the screens to ensure that you have the correct answers for your state of residence and make sure that you didn't choose that you lived in another state or made money in another state.
5. Scroll down to Other State Income and select Edit
6. Check your answer for Did you make money in any other states? Answer the questions and select Continue.
