When I filed my taxes in February I used Turbo Tax and filed a 740NP for Kentucky. I live in Ohio. I just realized after doing some looking that I filed the wrong form. I needed to file a 740NP-R. How do I fix this? Do I need to amend it through Turbo Tax?

Wait until you get your refund or you hear from the KY Dept. of Revenue.  if the refund isn't the right amount, then file an amended return.

You should get a full refund of KY state tax. None of the local tax (box 19 of your W-2) is refundable.

The reciprocity agreement does not apply to local city taxes.  You can not get those refunded, but if you live in an Ohio city with a tax, they may give you a credit or partial credit. Many do.  You need to check with your city.

If you are subject to Ohio School District Income Tax (SDIT), you can not get a credit, for KY local taxes withheld, on an SDIT return.

So I already got my refund but it says I owe Kentucky. I live in Ohio. So in that case do I amend my taxes?

    A. Probably.  You should call KDOR  for instructions.  There does not appear to be an "Amended" box on form NP-R.
