Question

I filed an Alabama return but go notification that SC had accepted my return. I did not even have a SC return.

1) how long ago did you file Alabama? IF it was many weeks or months ago, then I would suspect that someone else did file an SC tax return recently...but then mis-typed their email address....and that mis-type just happened to be yours.

2) You did file recently with no other acceptance notice before?

....2a) A state mis-type in the email notification? Print out yoru tax file to a PDF, and look at the actual forms to make sure SC isn't in there.

....2b) Call TTX on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday) and let Customer Support know there's an issue:

Are you expecting a refund from Alabama? If so, you might try checking Alabama's "Where's My Refund?" site. If your information is there, you'll know that Alabama actually did receive your tax return.
