Question

I got letter from NY for all my NY itemized deductions. A DTF-973.61, What do i need to do? can i redo my ny taxes? or do nothing and take standard deduction?

i dont have every document for taxes.

i dont think i do anyway.

You have 3 options ... you do not need to redo or amend anything since the return is in an audit phase ...

1) tell them you have no supporting docs and you want to use the standard deduction instead

2) send the docs you do have to support some of the itemized deductions claimed

3) send in all the docs to support the amounts you claimed
