Question

I had solar installed in 2022. I did not file my 2022 or 2023 taxes and have not claimed my solar project. Can I claim it on my 2024 taxes?

No, you have to amend your 2022 return.   Any amount of credit you can't claim on your 2022 return will transfer to your 2023 return, so you may need to amend that also.   If there is any left over 2023, you can claim it on this year's return.    You should file an extension, then go back and amend your prior year returns.

You can file your extension at our Easy Extension website.

How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year?
