I live and work in TN where we don't have a state income tax. My company cuts my checks from NC, headquarters. On my W2 I pay NC state tax, is that correct?

NO....if you only work in TN...then there should be no NC withholding (as long as the company knows you live/work in TN).  IF you worked for Google which is based in CA, they don't apply CA taxes if you physically work in TN.

IF you physically work in NC for any time, then only "some" of your wages should be NC-taxed.
