Question

I live in a rural area with a local sales tax of 6.25% but there's no stores. I shop in a neighboring town where the tax rate is 8.25%. Which rate do I use?

Texas very much has a state sales tax (I know, because I pay it).

The state sales tax is 6.25%

Since you do not live in an incorporated area and can't shop there anyway, use the sales tax rate of the area you always shop in - the 8.25%.

Just document this in case any one ever asks why you did this.
