Question

I live in CA but partner's company is NC based. NC is trying to tax my IRA conversion but I never lived there. How can I exclude this from NC's taxes and specify a state?

Basically wondering how to prevent NC from taxing my IRA conversion instead of the state where I actually live (CA)

North Carolina starts with federal AGI. Include additions to federal AGI, deductions from federal AGI, and either the North Carolina standard deduction or itemized deductions to arrive at North Carolina taxable income.

Nonresidents prorate taxable income by ratio of total North Carolina-source income to total income from all sources.
