Hi I live in Connecticut but, I work In NYC
My employer has me as I work in NYC but live in Connecticut in the taxes settings However,  When I went to fill the tax return on the Connecticut side it says that I owe 4000 dollars I checked the W2, and only 5 dollars were deducted for Connecticut what does that mean? Did they have to deduct more? how does that work?
on NY it is fine they deduct the taxes and everything but on the Connecticut side is my problem.

If you are filing a nonresident New York return and a resident Connecticut return, then Connecticut will give you a credit of taxes paid to New York. Since you worked in New York, you are liable to pay tax on your New York sourced income. You are also responsible for tax on your earnings on your resident state return. However, your resident state will give you a credit of taxes paid.

As you are completing your Connecticut return, you will get to the page, Take a look at Connecticut credits and taxes. Click Start next to Credit for Taxes Paid to Another State. Please make sure you have completed your nonresident New York return before you complete this page.
