I live in fl but worked last summer part time in nc. What am I considered for taxes in nc? Nonresident?

    Wait...it's not clear.....do your parents live in NC or in Florida?

     

    IF you are an undergraduate in college in FL, but returned "home" to work the summer in NC (& parents live in NC and you are under age 24 and their dependent), then you are an NC resident, and your time at college in FL is considered just temporary. (even though it's over half of the year.)

     

    And that would be filing as an NC resident.

    But if parents live in FL...then you are an NC nonresident.

    Yes, you are a nonresident for North Carolina taxes.
