Question

I live in Illinois and believe there is a tax credit for pregnant moms (I'm expecting in June 2024). Do you know how to add this to my return?

I tried to add as a child, but of course I don't have a SS# yet.

The state of GA has a credit for expectant mothers.   If IL has such a credit it is big news to me.

@Mike9241   ??

I can't find anything on the web about an Illinois credit for pregnant moms. There are federal and Illinois earned income credits but those can only be taken in the year of birth.

@tress-megan I think you have this confused with some other IL program for expectant mothers such as this:

There is not a state credit on your IL tax return for being an expectant parent.   Next year when you file your 2024 tax return you will be able to claim your child on your federal and state tax returns.   Have a happy delivery!
