Question

I live in KY but work in OH. Turbotax is saying that I owe $990 in OH taxes, but am getting a $250 refund from KY. I thought there's some sort of reciprocity for KY/OH.

Yes, there is a reciprocal agreement between Kentucky and Ohio, you pay tax on the income to the state in which you live.

In your situation, you would pay Kentucky.

You may also need to pay an Ohio county tax.

Did you enter your state of residence as Kentucky in the Personal Info section?

Which state(s) did your employer withhold state tax for?  Did they withhold local tax as well?

When you started the Ohio return, did TurboTax say that was a reciprocal state?

Did you live in Kentucky the entire year of 2024?
