    Local income tax is usually based on where you live, but in some cases, you also owe local income tax based on where you perform work.

     

    If you are subject to local or city taxes, those wages will be shown on your W-2: 

    Box 19: Local income tax. 

    Box 18: Local taxes withheld 

    Box 20: Locality name. This is the name of the city or locality where your wages were subject to local taxes.
