Question

I live in NY, but earned income from the state of CT, with no CT taxes taken out. What is the "portion taxed by CT"? The income amount or zero since CT didn't take tax?

Do I type in the portion of my income that SHOULD be taxed by CT or that WAS taxed by CT? Since no taxes were taken out by CT, I would think the answer would be zero.

Since you earned income in Connecticut, you will need to file a Connecticut nonresident return. The income that you earned in Connecticut would be taxable to Connecticut - that's the amount that you would enter in that field. Complete the Connecticut return first, TurboTax will usually transfer the necessary details to your New York return.
