I live in Putnam County. For 2019 natural disaster tax cut, is putnam County included due to hurricane dorrian?
If you are referring to Putnam County, FL, it is a federally declared disaster area for Hurricane Dorian. See the FEMA website for details.
There is no specific tax cut for living in a federally declared disaster area, but you can deduct casualty losses attributable to these disasters as itemized deductions (subject to other limitations). Here's how:
- Click Deductions & Credits (tab at top of screen).
- Scroll to the bottom and click Other Deductions and Credits.
- Click Start next to Disasters, theft, and other property loss or damage.
- Proceed through the interview questions.
