If you are referring to Putnam County, FL, it is a federally declared disaster area for Hurricane Dorian. See the FEMA website for details.

There is no specific tax cut for living in a federally declared disaster area, but you can deduct casualty losses attributable to these disasters as itemized deductions (subject to other limitations). Here's how:

  1. Click Deductions & Credits (tab at top of screen).
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Other Deductions and Credits.
  3. Click Start next to Disasters, theft, and other property loss or damage.
  4. Proceed through the interview questions.
