Because Maryland and Virginia have reciprocity agreements, you only need to pay tax in Virginia.

You need to file a Maryland Non Resident Tax Return for a refund of the taxes withheld on your income earned there.

You will need to file a Virginia Resident Tax Return and include the income from both companies.

You will owe Virginia for the taxes on the job for which the state taxes were not withheld, but it will be negated by the refund you are receiving from Maryland.

To make sure you are receiving proper tax credits, complete your Maryland Non Resident Return before your Virginia Resident Return.
