Question

I live in VA, state of legal residency is WI. WHich do i select? Just WI, I has more than one state of residence or i made money in WI but dont live there?

It depends.

 

Regarding Wisconsin:  

 

If you are part of the military and your "Home of Record" state is Wisconsin, then you would report your income in Wisconsin as a full year resident.

 

Attached is a link to how Wisconsin taxes your income.  You will see that Military Pay is Excluded from Income if it is excluded from income for federal tax purposes.

If you are not part of the military, then you would file a return if your "Wisconsin gross income" is $2,000 or more. The return would be a nonresident return.

In regards to Virginia:

 

Your resident state is the place where you live and intend to stay.  For Virginia, if you live there or have a home there for more than 183 days during the year, you are considered a resident of Virginia.

Depending upon your specific situation, you may have to file 2 state returns, one as a resident and the other as a nonresident.  This could apply if you have income from more than one state.
