Question

I lived in 2 states (thus 2 cities). My W-2 has Local Income Tax for Total City and 1 of the 2 cities. What do I do for City 2? Total minus City 1? Something else?

State / city 1: Pennsylvania / Philadelphia

State / city 2: Maryland / Baltimore

I am trying to figure out what to enter for Boxes 18-20 for my W-2 in TurboTax.

Your W-2 should have separate W-2 copies for Philadelphia (City 1) and Baltimore (City 2) besides the copy showing Total City. Check boxes 15-20 on all copies for your W-2.

Look for a PA W-2. That will show the amount of wages you earned while living in Pennsylvania along with withholding for PA state and Philadelphia city tax. Another MD W-2 will show the amount of money you made while living in Maryland along with MD and Baltimore City tax withheld.

In TurboTax, youll need two state lines for your W-2 for Boxes 15-20. After you enter either MD or PA, select Add another state and Add another locality and enter the other state and city information.

Baltimore City tax is included as part of your Maryland tax return. The Philadelphia wage tax is separate. You dont have to file any forms.
