Question

I lived in New York and then I moved to New Jersey September 2018 for a couple months until May 2019 I moved back to NY. How can I include that in my taxes

You are a part-year resident in both New York and New Jersey.

If your federal adjusted gross income was more than $8,000 single, $16,050 married filing jointly, or $11,200 head of household you are required to file a New York tax return.

If you received income from all sources for the entire year of more than $20,000 ($10,000 single or married filing separately) and received income while a New Jersey resident, you are required to file the New Jersey tax return.
