I lived in SC until 8/1/17 & while in SC, I took $41K from an account to buy land to build in AZ. Is this money subject to AZ tax? My wife has lived in AZ since 1/1/17.

It depends but if you are not filing a joint AZ resident return with your spouse, then you will not have to report the $41K as being AZ sourced if you received the funds while a resident of SC.

You would still be able to file your federal income taxes jointly but you would need to file your state income taxes as married filing separately.

What type of account did you take the money from? And are you filing as married filing jointly in AZ?
