Question

I lived/worked in NC most of the year, I moved to NY and lived/worked there for two months. When I do my NY tax return it is taxing me in NY all my income for the year?

I don't understand why I would be paying NY taxes on earned income in NC while I was living in NC? I cannot seem to change that no matter what info I enter in.

As a nonresident, you only pay tax on New York source income, which includes earnings from work performed in New York State, and income from real property located in the state.   You will calculate a base tax as if you were a full-year resident, then determine the percentage of your income that is subject to New York State tax and the amount of tax apportioned to New York State.
