Question

I'm a resident of Virginia and I work in Maryland. Do I need to file Maryland state tax, even though Virginia and DC residents income in Maryland is considered $0. v.v.?

It depends. The states of Virginia and Maryland are reciprocal states. Unless you had Maryland state tax withheld, you are not required to file a Maryland return. You should have filed an exemption form with your employer so that only Virginia state tax is being withheld. Please view the reciprocal state agreements for more information. If you had Maryland state tax withheld, then you should file a Maryland return to claim a refund.
