Question

I'm getting the "Check This Entry" for an "invalid for Electronic Filing" entry of my Employer's state I.D. number. can i drop the state abbreviation?

in box 15 of my W-2 the I.D. is structured as: KY

    No, don't drop the KY state abbreviation on your W-2, box 15. If the Employer's state I.D. number is giving you an error, enter your employer's Federal Identification Number (EIN or FEIN), from your W-2, box b.
