I'm told Michigan changed its tax laws to now exclude retired law enforcement officers from paying state taxes. Is this correct?

Per this excerpt from the Michigan State Police Retirement System, pension distributions from that plan are exempt from Michigan State income tax starting in 2023:   Michigan Police Retirement Pension Exclusion
