Question

I moved from Georgia to Nevada in September 2021. My W2 appears that I was taxed as if I lived in Georgia the entire year. Can I get that excess state income tax back?

You must file a part-year resident Georgia tax return. In that return, you will report only the income earned while you were in Georgia as Georgia sourced income. You will then receive a partial refund of your Georgia tax withheld.

Nevada has no income taxes.
