I moved from NY to PA and continued to work remotely in NY. How do I fill out the "Do you have any double-taxed income from New York?" page?

In 2021, I moved from NYC to Philadelphia and continued to work remotely for my NYC-based company. I filled out my part-year resident State return for NY, and started my part-year resident State return for PA. I understand that NY taxed my income I made after I moved because it came from a NY source, and that I can get tax credits from PA for this amount to prevent me from getting double taxed. I've seen other questions that ask about this screen, and I understand generally what I need to enter. However, I am unsure how to exactly fill out this screen:

Let's say I made 100000 in 2021, 40000 was made while living in NY and 60000 was made while living in PA and working for a NY company.

  • For the Gross Compensation line
    • Should the New York Amount be the full amount taxed by NY for the year (100000). Or should it be the amount taxed by both NY and PA (60000)?
    • I am fairly certain that My Amount (under the blacked out part where my name is) must be 60000
  • For the Tax Due to New York on income above line
    • Should the New York Amount be the full tax amount that I paid to NY on 100000? Or should it be 60% of my NY tax amount, to represent the percentage of taxes I paid to both NY and PA?
    • What do I fill into the My Amount box for this line?

The New York amount column is the totals from the New York return. Your column is the amount being double-taxed between PA and NY.

For the gross compensation line, the amount of $100,000 should be entered in the NY column. Your amount would be $60,000. This amount is the amount that is double-taxed by two states.

The New York tax amount would be your total NYS tax due. Your amount would be 60% of the tax ($60,000/$100,000).
