I moved to a new state and turbo tax is asking how much income I made in each state. Does it want my gross or net income? I am assuming gross

You assumed correctly, gross income.

It does mean your gross income. However make sure whether it is asking for the adjusted gross income (AGI).  If so, then you may need to calculate using the federal AGI and then using the number of months in each state.
