Question

I moved to Ireland in March of 2023 and have residence status here. Before i moved, i lived in Rhode Island. Would my state of residence still be RI?

Your residence is Ireland since you moved there and established your residency.

In the My Info section of the program where asked for a Resident state, in the dropdown for states, scroll to the bottom and select Foreign country or US Possession.  When asked if you lived in another state select Rhode Island and enter the date you move to Ireland.

You will have to enter a part year RI state income tax return.
