Question

I need to remove a state for my state return and can’t figure out how. I do not need to have both states on my state return.

I work in WV but live in KY and pay KY state taxes. Turbo tax kept telling me I needed to file with WV as well and was confused. Obviously my WV state return was rejected and needs removed from turbo tax account and I can’t figure out how to do so. I also paid for wv state return and need to know how to get my money refunded for that filing of $39 if I don’t need to file that state.

Yes, you are correct in that you do not need to file a West Virginia return, because as a resident of Kentucky there is a reciprocal agreement in place. (What is a state reciprocal agreement?) You can simply skip the non-resident West Virginia return and file and pay Kentucky as if you worked in state.

We are here to help with tax advice, but regarding the fee for WV, please contact customer support. Here is  how to contact them: What's the TurboTax phone number?
