Question

I need to remove the miscellaneous income entry. There is no option to edit or delete even in revisit other reportable income section. How to edit miscellaneous income?

I added Miscellaneous Income but now I realize I should not have.  However, there is no way to edit or delete this value.

On the Income and Expenses screen, scroll down to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C and select Edit/Add

Revisit the section where you added the income.

Click the garbage can next to the entry.

I could not get to the screen that you indicated.  Can you indicate step-by-step from opening the current tax return?

With TurboTax Online open,

  1. Click the Pick up where you left off button, if it’s present
  2. Let the whole page load
  3. Then, click Federal in the left pain
  4. Click the Income & Expenses tab at the top
  5. Then, scroll down to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C and choose Edit/Add
  6. On the Let’s Work on Any Miscellaneous Income page, revisit the section where the income was input, and click Revisit
  7. You’ll be able to remove the income in the interview process.

It's now February of 2022.  I'm unable to finish my tax return using online TT Deluxe, because I'm unable to delete the amount entered in error under INCOME, Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A.   What to do?  If anyone replies, let me know. Thanks.

What income entered in the Miscellaneous Income section are you trying to delete?  I entered income in three separate places in that section and have access to everything to add, edit or delete.

UPDATE:  I used Tax Tools in the left margin to Clear my entries mid-stream and start over with a new 1040.

If you are trying to remove a 1099-MISC and when you click revisit, it is not allowing you to delete the form, follow these steps:

  1. Click Tax Tools
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down to 1099-MISC Worksheet for the form you'd like to delete, click Delete
  5. Confirm to Delete a form
  6. Click Return to Tax Return

That didn't work. It got rid of my 1099-MISC info, but the miscellaneous income in the last income section is still there.

I did start and new return and filed, but I kept the previous forms to see if there was a solution. This didn't help.

To clarify, when you started over the new return and filed, did the miscellaneous income still remain?

Turbo tax took my wages from box 1 of my w2 and put it under misc income on my state return. I also can not remove it and now my state return is saying I have double the income.

I tried going put and picking up again but nothing works.

Seems to be a system error.

I only have 1 w2, no other forms or situations.
