I live in Maryland and own rental property in Colorado.  So I owe tax in both states.  Which should I do first? Or will it make a difference?

Always do the non-resident state first in your situation.

MD will allow a credit for any taxes you had to pay to CO, at some point in the MD state interview...but that cannot be determined until you actually finish the  CO nonresident tax return...so CO is done first.
