I paid my state taxes, but Turbotax says that I did not. How can this be updated so that I can check the status of my refund with the IRS?

I am at a loss as to what to do. I cannot check my refund status with the IRS "Where's my refund?" tool because TurboTax says that I haven't paid my state taxes, but I have. I do not know how much I am to receive in state taxes this year because it says that I still owe taxes that I already paid to the state (IN) on February 1st. I need to know how this status can be updated so that I can check the status of my refund with the IRS.

@mizduke97   Your posts are confusing.  You got your federal refund?  Federal is the IRS.  Federal and state are completely separate.  You can't check for state at the IRS Where's my refund.  And you said you paid state taxes.  If you had a tax due and paid you are not getting a refund.

And Turbo Tax will never know if or when you paid.  Turbo Tax will always show the tax due.  That was just the end result of your tax return.  You only proof of payment is your bank account or credit card statement.

You can use this link to check the status of your federal refund, you will not be asked for any information from your state tax return:

I already received my federal refund. Is there any way to check the status of my state refund, or is that impossible?

Yes.  Call your state taxing agency or go online for your state to check Where is My Refund.
