Question

I was a student and graduated in June. I lived in Maryland until I started my job in August and moved to Illinois. Do I need to file taxes in Maryland, or just in Il.

I had no income while I lived in Maryland. I was just a full time student.

You can just file an Illinois tax return.

Generally, you are required to file a Maryland income tax return if:

  • You are or were a Maryland resident;
  • You are required to file a federal income tax return; and
  • Your Maryland gross income equals or exceeds the level listed below for your filing status. The filing levels also apply to nonresident taxpayers who are required to file a Maryland return.

Single (including dependent taxpayers) - Under 65: $ 13,850
