I was staying in NJ ,but working in NYC . Then I moved into NYC How do I file tax

If you lived part of the year in both New Jersey and New York, you should file a Part-Year Resident return to both states.

 

You'll report the income earned/tax paid while you were a resident in each state.

 

If your W-2 does not allocate the income/tax correctly (it often doesn't), you may need to do some math yourself.
