I work remotely in CA after moving from IL. I have one state income tax on my W-2.

Hi - I'd like to know if I should file as "I had more than one state of residence" - and if so should I split my year's income between both states?

Correct  That is how you file this year.  You are part-year resident both for California as well as Illinois.  Illinois does not tax you for the remote work you do once you move to California, but does tax you for the income you physically earned in Illinois while working there.

Stating that you have more than one state of residence is accurate.  In addition, if your W-2 does not reflect the income allocated, or split to each state, you will need to determine those amounts.  Here is an FAQ to assist you on this:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4777389
