I worked for a CT based company while living in CT and they sent me 2 w2s one for CT and one for NY what should I do with the NY one that has the same earnings as the CT1

The company's address is in CT and I live in CT and I'm curious as to how they can claim I made money in NY

Speak with your employer. New York follows the "convenience of the employer" rule.

 

If your home office is New York and you work out of state for "your convenience" rather than out of a business necessity, then you are liable for New York tax.

 

If your employer made a mistake, you can file a nonresident New York return and get back all your withholding.

 

If you have to pay New York tax, Connecticut will give you credit for tax paid to New York.
