Question

If I am married (but filing separately), and filing a nonresident tax return for PA, but my spouse is not (no income from a PA source), how do I indicate that?

Spouse is active duty military, and PA is my official state of residence, but not my spouse's. I've been receiving PA unemployment while residing in two other states this past year (KS and VA). There are seemingly no options through the program for married filing separately, or married couples where only one party is receiving income from PA.

If Pennsylvania is still your "official state of residence" then you should file a resident tax return.

If you file jointly using TurboTax Online, you cannot file a state return filing separately as a part of that return, in that account.  See the following TurboTax HELP article on how to do it:

How do I prepare a joint federal return and separate state returns?
