Question

If I am only a resident of NC for part of the year, do I pay state income tax on my Federal AGI or just the amount I earned while a resident of NC?

Turbotax seems confused by this situation and billed me $1000 tax bill even though the amount I earned in NC in my partial year was below the minimum taxable amount. I'm not sure if I missed something or if I would actually be billed on my AGI for the whole year.

A part-year resident or a nonresident who receives income from N.C. sources must complete this form (D-400 Schedule PN 2023 Part-Year Resident and Nonresident Schedule) to determine the percentage of total income from all sources that is subject to N.C. tax.
